3 Easy Ways to Evaluate and Update Your Look

When you look in the mirror, what do you see? Do you see a person who is confident in his/her own skin or do you see someone who is out of date and lacking spunk? Updating our style can be one of the best ways to boost our confidence.  So look in the mirror and ask yourself: Am I doing this for me? Is this how I want to present myself?  What do I need to be more confident about?

Updating your self-image is the first step to evaluating and updating your entire look. Realize what you feel good about and what you do like about yourself and style. Then, move on to the things that could use some sprucing up. Ask: What do I think I should change about my look?  What are the areas of my look that I want to feel more confident about?

Once you’ve pinpointed those areas then find a style to emulate. Now, don’t pick someone from the nineties, but pick someone who is current and has a style that best fits your personality. However, don’t try to be or wear something that is not you. Your style needs to reflect your personality and your inner beauty. Get online and search some of the hottest fashion icons’ every day style, or get on Pinterest and find some outfits that you could put together on your own! The key is to not be afraid to try something new. Try skinny jeans with a long, flowy top next time you’re in the store. Or put a bold print, like leopard print, with a bright color! Try to think outside the box next time you put together an outfit or go shopping.

One of the best things to remember when evaluating and updating your style is that if you don’t like your style then change it! It is your body and your choice to be who you want to be! Change is good for the mind and for your self-image. Don’t be afraid to step out on a limb and embrace a better, more confident you! Be someone you’ve always wanted to be!

Some things to try:
1.      Try a new lip color! Try a brighter pink for during the day and red for evening!
2.      Switch up your accessories! This time around forget about the big picture and focus on the details. Accessories are often times the first things to get struck off the shopping list. But they really are the most important things to update your look and make an outfit your own! Invest in a killer pair of heels to dress up any outfit or a great chunky necklace to add to all those simple tees you have stashed in your closet.
3.      Change your hairstyle! Your hair may be an integral part of your look and may be scary to change, but it could make the biggest difference! Don’t just change your hair to have a change. Change it to enhance your look! TLC says, “The problem with staying with any one look too long, though, is that hair styles can date you faster than almost any other element of your appearance.” There are many ways to update your look other than chopping off all your hair or drastically changing its color. Just try styling it differently! Try wearing it up for a change, or wearing your bangs a different way. Get creative!

In the end, you need to become the best you--not just outwardly, but inwardly. Find your inner beauty and build on that! Be the best you can possibly be, and reflect that inward beauty by presenting yourself and your style confidently.
