ATTENTION MEN! This month's blogs are just for you!

This month I am focusing my blog on tips just for the men. I am going to be talking about how you can dress in a way that camouflages the things you want to down play. This week, I'm going to show men who are not so tall how to look taller. In the coming weeks I will be covering style tips for men who are tall and skinny and men who are bulky. Even if you don't get a chance to read each blog, know this...in every case, it's all about proportion and proper fit.

For the shorter man, there are several things you can do to look taller:

1. Start with the shoes. It's better for a shorter man to wear a square-toed shoe than ones that are more pointy. Really long shoes or really bulky shoes are not a good look for someone who is "vertically-challenged". Also, even though bulky is bad, you still want to find a shoe with a bit of a heel. Dress boots, cowboy boots, or slip-on boots with a heel is the quickest and easiest way to add some actual height.

2. Another way to add some actual height is to now focus on the head and add a hat. A newsboy cap is going to give you more height than say a baseball cap or a knit toboggan-type hat. Of course a nice cowboy hat will add height, but if that's not really who you are, it will just look like you're trying to be something you're not. So find what feels most like you!

3. Create the illusion of a really long, vertical line in a variety of ways such as wearing a jacket or blazer unbuttoned or unzipped. Shirts with narrow vertical stripes will create the same effect. Accessories that create a long vertical line such as a tie or a scarf (not tied around the neck, just hanging) are a good way to also create the illusion of height. Just make sure your necktie is a slimmer to medium size and avoid wide ties.

4. Other tips to remember: avoid large prints that may overwhelm you due to your height and always choose pants and jeans with a short rise. Stay away from a long rise in the pants because they will make you look like you suffer from "no acetol," as well as making what you've got in front look non-existent.

Guys who are tall and skinny, stay tuned for next week!
