paNASH Style Client Examples: The Versatility of Teal

Teal is one of those colors that looks good with just about anything, and depending on its shade, works with most skin tones. It's especially complimenting on red heads!

Here is an example of how teal can work with a variety of items in your closet. These photos come from a wardrobe edit I did with a client named Becky in which we created new combinations of items already in her closet. She wasn't sure what to put with her teal cardigan until I showed her several items from her current wardrobe with which it would work.

Here, I created for Becky a quick, on-the-go-no-time-to-think-about-what-I'm-wearing look by layering the cardigan over a neutral (chocolate brown) top that already has some embellishment to it so she wouldn't have to fuss with a necklace. This combination can easily be worn with jeans or gray work pants. I chose from her shoe collection a brown patent leather loafer that is both comfortable for when she's on-the-go and adds a touch of dressiness to the look with its shine.

To show Becky how versatile the color teal can be, I paired it with an unexpected brightly colored top in magenta. She had the perfect necklace in her accessories to complete the look. Adding necklaces and other pieces of jewelry adds interest and dimension to a look. In addition, a necklace of this length can also give the illusion of a longer or taller, leaner figure.

As you can see from this photo, this cool sequin, leopard print tank had been hanging in Becky's closet without ever having been worn since it still has the tag on it. When I asked Becky why she hadn't worn it, she said she hadn't had any dressy evening events lately for her to wear it to. I showed her that she can take something that typically is more appropriate for a dressy evening and incorporate it into some of her casual day wear by pairing it with her teal cardigan and some business casual pants.
